The start of a new season is always exciting and filled with great energy. It’s great to have the Company back in the studio and there is lots going of wonderful work taking place. I welcome back our returning dancers who enjoyed a brief break between our Spain tour and the new season, and welcome several new dancers to the Company and BBII.
Rehearsals have begun for our new production of the magnificent classical ballet La Bayadère. This is a tremendously beautiful full length ballet for us. I welcome Florence Clerc, from the Paris Opera Ballet, who is creating this world premiere. Charles and his wardrobe team are creating many exquisite costumes and our own sets will be enhanced for The Boston Opera House, re-creating the captivating, exotic world of India.
It has also been a pleasure to see the stunning Antique Epigraphs, by Jerome Robbins, staged for us by Christine Redpath. BBII is busy preparing their own program of works for performances at the Ahts Festival on September 11 and 12. Catch these talented dancers in their first shows of the season!
