Each morning for the past 8 seasons, I, Sarah Wroth, corps de ballerina extraordinaire, have arrived at the Boston Ballet building as it sits sleeping. Just myself and the security guard downstairs for a few brief stretching moments before the bustle of artistic energy begins. With the beginning of each new season has come a breeze of change, but none so great as this fall's has proven to be.
Even as I sit here writing, I can hear the rumblings of progress. "Hard hats required" signs are on the third floor walls as the Boston Ballet makeover begins. Each day reveals new joys of building improvements. The third floor bathroom, closed for a week, had finally opened with sparkling white walls, and new sinks.
The ongoing aesthetic changes are creating a wave of new season energy that has been enhanced by the new faces of the company members. We have newbies hailing from Spain, the Republic of Georgia, Cuba, New York, France, Pennsylvania, Italy and Brazil. Each new face adds a new spirit and a new interpretation. New faces and old will hit the Boston Opera House stage on October 23 for Night of Stars.
It has been such an exciting four weeks and today is the Friday before a 3 day weekend! Beautiful Friday - Beautiful Company - Beautiful Building.
